Klondike Sponsors Vancouver's Inaugural Weekend to End Breast Cancer
Vancouver, BC, Canada: On Saturday August 21 st and Sunday August 22 nd , Klondike Kidstuff Inc joined other local businesses in sponsoring Vancouver's inaugural Weekend to End Breast Cancer.
The Weekend, featuring a two-day 60-kilometre walk, is being hailed as the single largest fundraising event ever in the history of British Columbia, a great success on all fronts. Despite the torrential rain, 2101 participants walked the 60-kilometre route and a total of $7,027,000 was raised for the BC Cancer Foundation. “Proceeds will fund new exciting initiatives at the BC Cancer Agency,” says Dr. Simon Sutcliffe, President of the BC Cancer Agency.
Spirits were high throughout the weekend as walkers were encouraged by cheering friends and family. “From the emotional Opening Ceremonies at the Plaza of Nations to the inspiring Closing Ceremonies at BC Place, this event was amazing - definitely the kind of positive community initiative we are pleased to support,” said a Klondike spokesperson questioned yesterday about the company's involvement.
The second annual Weekend to End Breast Cancer is already planned for August 19 – 21, 2005.
